Saka Events

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Draft pending legal review

This draft describes how Saka Events works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a Tanzanian lawyer. For anything not covered here, contact us at info@upstairstechnologysolutions.com.

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Saka Events, including the Saka Events customer app, the Saka Events service-provider app, this website, and our support channels. Saka Events is operated by UPSTAIRS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS LIMITED, a limited company incorporated in Tanzania under the Companies Act, 2002, with incorporation number 185834050, from Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

By creating an account or using Saka Events, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of your agreement with us.

Saka Events is a booking platform for event services. It is not a ticketing platform. We do not issue event tickets, and there is no ticket, QR-code, ticket-transfer, or ticket-resale feature in Saka Events.

2. Who Can Use Saka Events

To create a customer account you provide your phone number and verify it with a one-time code sent by SMS. The code is valid for 10 minutes, and you can request a new one after 60 seconds. You then provide your first and last name, date of birth, National Identification (NIDA) number, email address, and a password of at least eight characters, and confirm that you accept these Terms. You may also sign in with Google, in which case you still complete the same profile details.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or enter a booking contract through Saka Events.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you give us, for keeping your password and verification codes confidential, and for activity on your account. Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has used your account. We may ask you to complete additional verification, including multi-factor verification by email or SMS, before you sign in or complete sensitive actions.

You need an active account to sign in. If your account is inactive or suspended, sign-in is blocked until the status is restored. We record sign-in attempts, including the IP address and whether the attempt succeeded, to protect accounts and investigate misuse.

One account is for one person. Do not share your account, create an account for someone else without their authority, or create an account after we have suspended or closed a previous one.

3. Finding and Booking Services

Saka Events lists independent event service providers and the service packages they offer. You can search and filter providers by keyword, price, and rating, and you can browse the sections our team features on the app home screen. Featured, top-rated, and promoted placements are arranged by Saka Events and do not change a provider's obligations to you.

Providers do not currently pay for featured, top-rated, promoted, or advertised placement. We may introduce paid or sponsored placements in the future and will identify them where required.

To book, you select one or more packages from a single service provider, choose any add-ons the provider offers, and choose your event date. A booking cannot combine packages from different providers, and a package can only be booked if it is active, the provider is approved and not suspended, and the provider has a current agreement with us.

Each date is reserved exclusively. Once a date is held for a package, that date is no longer available to other customers, and providers can also block dates in their calendar for bookings they take outside Saka Events.

A new booking is held for 15 minutes so that you can pay. If payment is not completed in that time, the reservation expires, the booking is cancelled, the date is released, and we notify you in the app. You can create a new booking after that.

Your booking moves through the statuses shown in the app: not paid, partially paid, paid, pending cancellation, and cancelled. Every booking receives a booking reference that you and the provider can use when discussing it with us.

Saka Events is a marketplace and payment facilitator. The service contract is between you and the provider. We introduce you to the provider and handle the booking, payment, records, and dispute support, but we are not a party to the provider's contract to perform the booked service. We remain responsible for our own platform, payment-handling, and support obligations.

4. Prices, Taxes, and Payments

Prices are set by the service provider, are shown in Tanzanian Shillings, and include tax. The tax portion is calculated out of the price shown rather than added on top, and the applicable tax rate is recorded against the package at the time you book. Saka Events does not add a separate booking fee to the provider's price.

The provider is the taxable supplier of the booked service and is responsible for issuing any required fiscal receipt. UPSTAIRS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS LIMITED issues receipts only for fees it charges directly. Tax names and rates are configured in the platform and are not fixed in these Terms.

Bookings are paid in two parts. You pay a deposit to confirm the booking, and the remaining balance before your event. The deposit percentage is set in our agreement with each provider, so the deposit due is shown to you in the app before you pay. If a balance is still outstanding, we send you a reminder about a day before your event date.

Payments are made by mobile money through our payment processor, Snippe. Supported channels are M-Pesa, Airtel Money, HaloPesa, Mixx by Yas, TTCL Pesa, and Selcom. We select the channel from the phone number you enter. You approve the payment on your phone by entering your mobile-money PIN. Saka Events does not see or store your mobile-money PIN.

The smallest payment we can process is 500 TZS. A payment attempt is held open for a limited time while we wait for confirmation from the payment channel, and the app tells you the outcome. If a payment attempt expires or fails, your booking is not paid and you can try again while the reservation is still valid.

Payments are confirmed by the payment channel, not by us. Charges applied by your mobile network or mobile-money provider are separate from the price of the booking, and are not refunded by Saka Events.

5. Changes, Cancellations, and Refunds

You can request cancellation of a partly paid booking in the app up to a cut-off before your event date. The cut-off is set in our agreement with the provider and applies from the start of your event date. The booking screen shows the date and time up to which cancellation can be requested. After that point the app no longer accepts an ordinary cancellation request. A booking that has not been paid expires on its own, and a fully paid booking is handled through the complaint process described below.

A cancellation request does not cancel the booking by itself. When you submit it, the booking status changes to pending cancellation, and we notify the service provider and our team. Our team then reviews the request, and a separate approver decides on the refund. A rejected request is recorded with the reason for the decision.

We decide a cancellation request within 48 hours after receiving the information needed to review it. If a refund is approved, we initiate it within 48 hours by mobile money to the phone number on your Saka Events account and aim for it to reach you within that period. Your mobile-money provider may require additional processing time outside our control. Refunds are not returned to the specific handset you paid from, so keep the phone number on your account current. The refunded amount is calculated from the amount you actually paid and the refund share set in our agreement with the provider, so it may be less than the full amount paid. The retained share is credited to the service provider.

The app shows you the amount paid and the refund position for each booking. Because the deposit share, refund share, and cut-off are set per provider, we cannot state a single refund percentage or cut-off in these Terms.

Before final payment, you may request cancellation subject to the displayed cut-off and provider-specific refund terms. The provider may already have received part of your initial payment. We may recover, offset, or deduct an approved refund from the provider's wallet or future earnings.

After final payment, ordinary cancellation is unavailable. You may still raise a complaint if the provider does not deliver, acts fraudulently, or delivers a service materially different from the package booked.

After reviewing the evidence, our support team may provide an appropriate remedy, including rebooking, a full or partial refund, account credit, or another reasonable resolution.

6. Complaints and Disputes

If something goes wrong with a fully paid booking, you can raise a complaint in the app within the complaint window. The window runs from the end of your event date for a period set in our agreement with the provider, and the booking screen shows when it ends. You give a reason and can add a description. You can have one open complaint per booking at a time.

While a complaint is open, the provider's final payout for that booking is held. Our team reviews the complaint and records it as resolved or rejected. Once it is resolved, the held funds are released according to the outcome.

Each booking also has a support conversation in the app, which you can use to reach the provider and our team about that booking. You can also contact us using the details in section 15.

You may appeal a complaint or refund decision once by contacting support within seven days of the decision. A different member of our support or operations team will review the available evidence. We aim to answer an appeal within seven business days where practical. Section 14 explains the next steps if the matter remains unresolved.

7. Service Providers

This section applies to you if you offer services on Saka Events. It applies in addition to the rest of these Terms and to the written agreement we conclude with you.

To become a service provider you register and verify your phone number, then give us your business name, taxpayer identification number, business number, incorporation number, service categories, business address and location, and the personal details of the person registering, including date of birth and National Identification number. You also upload your taxpayer identification certificate and your business licence.

Our team reviews your application. Your account remains pending until we approve and activate it, and you cannot publish packages or receive bookings before then. We may reject an application, and we record the reason for a rejection.

You create packages with a name, description, price, applicable tax, images, and any add-ons. Package changes are reviewed by our team before they take effect, and a rejection is recorded with its reason. You are responsible for everything you publish: your prices, your descriptions, your images, and your ability to actually deliver the service on the date booked. Do not publish content you do not have the right to use, or descriptions that would mislead a customer.

You must keep your calendar accurate. Block dates you are not available, including dates you have committed elsewhere, so that customers are not able to book them. A date reserved through Saka Events is a commitment to that customer.

Your commercial terms — the deposit share customers pay up front, our operator service fee, your share of a refunded booking, the cancellation cut-off, and the complaint window — are set in your agreement with us and are visible in your app. They are not fixed in these Terms and may differ between providers.

Earnings are credited to your Saka Events wallet. When a customer pays the deposit, your share of it is credited, and part of it stays locked until the cancellation cut-off for that booking has passed. The balance is credited after the complaint window for the booking has ended, and is held while a complaint on that booking is open. Our operator service fee is deducted at each credit. You can withdraw your available balance to a mobile-money number, subject to a minimum withdrawal of 5,000 TZS. Your available balance is your wallet balance less any locked amount.

We may suspend your provider account or your wallet where we are investigating a complaint, a payment problem, suspected fraud, a breach of these Terms, or a breach of your agreement with us. While a wallet is suspended, new bookings cannot be created for your packages and withdrawals are not possible.

You are responsible for your own tax, licensing, insurance, and regulatory obligations in respect of the services you provide.

These Terms contain the general provider and payment terms. Each provider also signs a commercial agreement covering its deposit percentage, fees, refund share, cancellation cut-off, complaint window, and payout arrangements. The signed agreement controls where its provider-specific commercial terms differ from these general Terms.

8. Reviews and Content You Submit

You can review a service provider only if you have booked that provider, and you can leave one review per provider. A review is a rating from one to five, with an optional comment. Write about your own experience. Do not post content that is false, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, obscene, or that reveals another person's private information.

You keep ownership of the content you submit — reviews, complaint details, support messages, photos, and, for providers, listings and business images. By submitting it, you give UPSTAIRS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS LIMITED permission to host, store, reproduce, and display it as needed to run and promote Saka Events, and you confirm that you have the right to give that permission.

We may remove content that breaches these Terms or the law, and we may act on your account under section 9.

Our support team may remove or restrict content that is fraudulent, irrelevant, abusive, unlawful, misleading, infringes another person's rights, reveals private information, or otherwise breaches these Terms. We may correct technical or factual errors. We will not remove a genuine negative review merely because a provider objects to it.

9. Acceptable Use and Account Suspension

Use Saka Events lawfully and in good faith. In particular, do not: give false identity, business, or payment information; book without intending to pay or attend; use another person's payment details or account; attempt to arrange payment outside Saka Events in order to avoid our fees or our booking records; harass or threaten a customer, a provider, or our staff; publish services you cannot deliver or are not licensed to provide; use Saka Events for anything illegal, including fraud or money laundering; interfere with, probe, or overload our systems; scrape or copy the platform's data; or attempt to gain access to accounts, records, or areas of the platform that are not yours.

Where we believe these Terms, your agreement with us, or the law has been breached, we may limit your access, suspend or deactivate your account, suspend a provider's wallet, remove content, decline a booking, or close your account. We may also report conduct to the police or another competent authority.

For an ordinary violation, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to respond where practical. We may suspend an account immediately where we reasonably suspect fraud, a security threat, unlawful conduct, payment risk, or danger to customers. You may appeal through support. We may restore access after the issue is resolved and any required verification is complete. We will continue or safely unwind existing bookings, hold only funds reasonably connected to an investigation or dispute, and release undisputed provider funds after the applicable refund and complaint periods. Suspension alone does not cause wallet funds to be forfeited.

You can stop using Saka Events at any time, and you can delete your account in the app under Profile, then Delete Account. Deleting your account signs you out of every active session. Our Privacy Policy explains what is removed, what is anonymised, and which booking, payment, complaint, tax, and legal records we keep.

10. Notifications and Communications

We send you service messages about your account and your bookings. These include verification and security codes, booking confirmations, reservation expiry, payment prompts and outcomes, balance reminders, cancellation and refund updates, complaint updates, payout notices for providers, and replies to support messages. We send them as push notifications in the app, by SMS, and by email.

These messages are part of the service rather than marketing, and they are not currently something you can switch off inside Saka Events while keeping an active account. You can turn off push notifications for the app in your device settings, but you may then miss time-sensitive information such as a payment prompt or a reservation expiring.

We may also contact you about your account, your bookings, or these Terms using the phone number or email address on your account.

11. Our Responsibilities and Limits

Service providers on Saka Events are independent businesses. They set their own prices and packages and are responsible for the services they agree to deliver. We review provider applications and package listings, and we hold provider payouts through the cancellation and complaint windows described above, but we do not supervise the performance of an event, and we do not guarantee the quality, timing, or outcome of a service booked through Saka Events.

Ratings, reviews, and provider descriptions come from users and providers. We do not verify every statement in them.

We aim to keep Saka Events available and working correctly, but we provide it as it is. Access may be interrupted by maintenance, faults, network or mobile-money outages, or events outside our control. We are not responsible for a delay or failure caused by a payment channel, a network operator, or another third party we rely on.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. We use reasonable efforts to keep Saka Events available and secure, restore material interruptions, and provide notice of planned maintenance where practical.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss. For a customer claim arising from a booking, our ordinary financial liability is limited to the amount paid for the affected booking. For a provider claim, it is limited to the Saka Events fees paid or payable during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or right that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit.

12. Intellectual Property

Saka Events, including the apps, this website, the Saka Events name and logo, the design, and the software behind them, belongs to UPSTAIRS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS LIMITED or its licensors. You may use Saka Events for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of it, or use our name, logo, or branding without our written permission.

Providers keep their own business names, logos, and marks. By listing on Saka Events, a provider allows us to display them in connection with their listings and with Saka Events.

Section 8 covers the content you submit.

13. Privacy and Data

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, how to delete your account, and the choices available to you. It applies whenever you use Saka Events and forms part of these Terms.

When you make a booking, we share the details the provider needs to deliver the service and to handle any complaint, including your name, contact information, the service booked, and the booking date. Providers must use that information only for your booking and must protect it.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Tanzania.

Before starting a formal dispute, contact support so that we can try to resolve the matter with you. If our internal review does not resolve it, either party may propose good-faith mediation. Mediation is voluntary unless a separate signed provider agreement says otherwise.

If the dispute remains unresolved, either party may bring it before a court with jurisdiction in Tanzania. Any claim must be brought within the period allowed by applicable law.

15. Changes to These Terms, and How to Contact Us

We may update these Terms when Saka Events changes or when legal requirements change. We will post the revised Terms on this page with a new last-updated date, and we may also notify you in the app where a change materially affects you. Continuing to use Saka Events after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest continues to apply. Not enforcing a provision immediately does not mean we give it up.

For questions about these Terms, contact UPSTAIRS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS LIMITED at info@upstairstechnologysolutions.com, call +255 762 222 200, or write to Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. You can also use the support conversation attached to any booking in the app.
